It’s High Lonesome race week! We hope you’re as excited as we are to be back for our eighth running! On this page you’ll find *most*of the information you’ll need for a successful and enjoyable week at the High Lonesome 100. Schedule

Wednesday, July 16:

  • Camping (reservation required) opens at 1:00pm at Start/Finish area.

  • Shake out run and happy hour at 7000ft Running Co (Salida) & the Office Bar! 3 mile run at 5pm with demo shoes from Altra and fuel by Maurten, followed by a happy hour at the Office Bar next door.

Thursday, July 17:

  • 12:00pm – 5:15pm: Packet pickup at Buena Vista High School (559 S Railroad St, Buena Vista, CO 81211)

  • 4:30pm – 5:15pm: OPTIONAL crew/pacer briefing at Buena Vista High School gym

  • 5:15pm – 5:30pm: Waitlisters added to fill open spots

  • 5:30pm – 6:30pm: MANDATORY pre-race briefing at Buena Vista High School, Red Gym

Friday, July 18:

  • 5:00am – 5:45am: Runner check-in/gear check at Starting line (coordinates: 38.740283, -106.161251)

  • 5:45am – 5:59am: Any bibs of runner’s not checked in will be offered to present waitlisters.

  • 6:00am: Race start!

Saturday, July 19:

  • 11am - Free cocktails, mocktails, beer, NA beer, and food truck(s) open at finish line

  • 7:00pm: Race ends (37hr cutoff)

  • 7:15pm – 8:00pm: Awards ceremony, celebrations, food, and drink at Finish line (coordinates: 38.740283, -106.161251) ***THIS IS THE ONLY TIME TO GET A BOTTLE, YOU CANNOT GET IT ON SUNDAY***

Sunday, July 20:

  • 9:00am – 10:00am: Volunteer appreciation breakfast (Forest Square Park, BV)

  • 10:00am – 12:00pm: Leftover drop bags available at Finish Line

RUNNER CHECK-IN/PRE-RACE MEETINGS

  • Location: Buena Vista High School, 559 S Railroad St, Buena Vista, CO 81211.

  • Packet pickup: 12:00 - 5:15pm.

  • Check-in for pre-race meeting: 5:15 - 5:30pm

  • Pre-race meeting (MANDATORY): 5:30pm - 6:30pm

Nitty-Gritty Details

 
 

RUNNER CHECK-IN DETAILS

  • Bring the following:

    • Photo ID

    • CORSAR card (digital is fine)

    • All the shoes you are going to run in for the toad bath

    • Drop bags

  • If your pacer is in town, they can check-in early. They will need to bring the following to check in early:

    • Photo ID

    • CORSAR card

    • All the shoes they are going to run in for the toad bath

  • DO NOT BE LATE. We are absolutely strict on the check-in time. Waitlisters will be present and ready to fill spots.


CAMPING DETAILS FOR RUNNERS AND VOLUNTEERS

Reservations are required for all camping (car, tent, camper, van, etc) at the Start/Finish line EXCEPT for volunteers. Volunteers may camp for free in the volunteer camping zone only.

ALL:

  • Port-a-pots, trash, and recycling are available but there is no water.

  • Camping opens Wednesday at 1pm and closes Sunday at noon.

  • Quiet hours are from 9pm to 7am

  • No dogs are allowed except in RV’s or vans. All pets MUST be on a leash the entire time.

  • Absolutely no fires

  • All food must be stored in vehicles at night and when you are not at the campsite, zero exceptions. Bears have been seen on the property. Anyone not properly storing food will be kicked out. Bears that get into food are euthanized by CPW and we’re not going to let a bear get killed because a human is an idiot.

RUNNERS:

  • Reservations are required, but spots are first come first serve

  • Any available sites may be purchased here.

  • Each site is limited to 2 tents and 2 non-camping vehicles. Campers, vans, camper-trailers, etc are limited to 1 per site.

VOLUNTEERS:

  • Camping is allowed on Tuesday, email the RD first please.

  • Please camp in the designated volunteer camping area. If you have a trailer RV, reach out to the RD for a space with room. No reservation is required for tents or car camping.

  • Thanks for volunteering!


FINISH LINE & AWARDS

FINISH LINE:

  • Free cocktails from Laws Whiskey House

  • Free beer from Elevation Brewing

  • Free non-alcoholic beverages

  • Food trucks

  • Free food for runners and volunteers (BBQ fare) - non-runners or volunteers can get food at the food truck!

AWARDS:

  • Buckles are given as runners finish

  • Laws Whiskey bottles are handed out during the awards ceremony which begins around approximately 7:15pm. Everyone who starts gets a bottle!

  • Place awards are given out during the awards ceremony.

  • Bottles must be picked up at the Awards ceremony. Extras are given to volunteers. Bottles may NOT be retrieved on Sunday.
